Hello

My name is Claire Hogben and I am the lead therapist at Patterns and Pathways Therapeutic Services. I offer a warm, empathic, and professional space where individuals can begin to understand, heal, and transform the patterns that have shaped their lives and develop new pathways toward growth, resilience, and wellbeing. I provide a range of services including Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) and Eye Movement Desensitisation and Reprocessing (EMDR) as well as supervisory services.

My Story

With both lived experience and over 25 years of professional experience working within public services and charities, I have worked with some of the most vulnerable in society. My work is grounded in real-world understanding due to my own experiences of childhood trauma and the subsequent effects of that into adult life.  Therefore i have developed a real life understanding of resilience and empathy for those struggling with the impact of mental health. I knew from my own experiences that supporting others to build those paths to resilience was my passion in life.

My background includes extensive therapeutic work within the Child and Adolescents Mental Health Services (CAMHS), Running Mental Health programmes within Schools, working within the Youth Offending Service, substance misuse services, and with Looked After Children, I have developed a deep understanding of complex developmental trauma and I am passionate in supporting people and recognising the importance of building resilience. I have extensive experience working with OCD and have undertaken additional training to expand my knowledge.  I have personal experience of neurodiversity and supporting people with neurodiversity and understand the difficulties this can bring in life but also the strengths that can be built upon.

My own personal experiences led me naturally to pursue a path that involves care and kindness and helping those struggling.  I am real, honest, and down to earth, and have a good insight into the challenges that people face and the impact on their mental health.  I am passionate about helping people gain an understanding of their difficulties and find their inner strength, build their resilience and change their lives. I genuinely feel so honoured to be a part of someone's journey.

I am a qualified Cognitive Behavioural Psychotherapist and qualified Clinical Supervisor.  I completed my clinical training at the  Institute of Psychiatry, Psychology and Neuroscience (IoPPN) at King’s College London. I am accredited as a Psychotherapist and Supervisor with the British Association of Cognitive Behavioural Therapists (BABCP).  I am trained to work with Adults and Children in Eye Movement Desensitisation and Reprocessing (EMDR) Therapy and a full member of the EMDR UK Association.

I work with children, adolescents, and adults, tailoring interventions to meet each individual’s developmental needs and personal goals. My therapeutic approach is kind, compassionate, trauma-informed, and rooted in evidence-based practice. Whether you're seeking support for anxiety, depression, trauma, or building self-worth, compassion and self-esteem. I aim to instill hope, foster resilience, and help clients reclaim a sense of purpose in their lives.

I offer clinical supervision to trainee and qualified therapists and practitioners seeking a reflective, supportive, and ethical space to grow in their professional roles. I love having the opportunity to see the work from other therapists and provide a space for reflection and development.  I have a special interest in the BABCP accreditation process and have developed workshops to guide practitioners through the KSA and BABCP accreditation application.

I am honoured to work at the IoPPN at Kings College London, alongside some of the countries leading experts in their field,

helping develop newly trained CBT therapists. This work I love as it means I have the pleasure of experiencing new therapists develop and grow, in addition to ensuring I am following the latest evidence-based practices within treatment of mental health difficulties.

I am passionate about developing my practice and thrive on learning. I continue to undertake additional training to enhance my practice and professional development. All my additional training can be seen within my site and is regularly updated.

Patterns and Pathways Therapeutic Services began as a small private practice and has grown through word of mouth, a testament to the quality and effectiveness of the services provided. If you are seeking professional therapeutic services that can make a real difference in your life or the life of your loved one, consider reaching out to us. I am here to support you on your journey towards healing and transformation. If you require supervision for a space to reflect, then I welcome the opportunity to help support you, as I see supervision as a learning opportunity for us all to reflect and grow.
